in love with nature

The parks and natural areas in London are among my favourite places. I love sitting and admiring nature, each tree unique in its own beauty. Observing the surroundings brings me joy—watching the swans, the noisy and agile seagulls, and the comical coots as they chase away other birds. It’s amusing to see how the coots struggle to catch the bread I throw, being too small to compete with the geese and too slow for the seagulls.

Feeding the squirrels is my favourite activity. I find it puzzling how many Londoners take such simple pleasures for granted. The magic lies in those moments when you stop and truly appreciate the beauty around you, realizing how fortunate you are to be here.

We can learn so much by simply observing animals. In nature, we still find everything that is vital and instinctive, yet we often fight against it instead of striving for better coexistence. First and foremost, we must recognize that we are not the only species inhabiting this planet; we share it with countless other living beings. It is high time we stopped acting superior and ceased encroaching on other species’ habitats.

It’s ironic how our greed has led us to believe that we can rule the planet and make decisions driven solely by profit. It is astounding that even in the 21st century, we have not fully grasped the concept that we are mere travelers and passers-by on this Earth. Our responsibility is to preserve it and leave it clean and healthy for future generations.

Love ♥,
Petra
