It’s quite amusing that when it comes to illness, many believe that all efforts are directed towards ensuring healthier, better, and longer lives. We place immense trust in medicine, which is accessible to us and generates solutions to heal individuals. While medicine has undeniably benefited humanity, adhering to the Hippocratic Oath to save lives, the reality today is different. Only a handful of dedicated scientists, medical professionals, and doctors uphold the true essence of humanity and often volunteer to save lives. Unfortunately, profit now dictates everything, particularly in medicine.
To fully grasp the irony and the vicious cycle we find ourselves in, consider the dual forces at play. As solutions to cure diseases are developed, people simultaneously face immense pressures—worrying about paying bills, completing profit-driven projects without burning out, balancing obligations, and finding time for loved ones and family.
Stress is the primary cause of illness, a fact that is scientifically proven. Instead of altering the very system we created—rules we designed, not divinely ordained—we devise programmes to combat workplace burnout, manage numerous obligations, create mental health initiatives, and offer psychotherapy. Yet, we fail to change the unhealthy system that generates these problems.
It’s both humorous and ironic. I wonder why there is such apathy? Is it so easy to be manipulated into believing that life’s value lies only in work, profit, and admiration from others? Why accept financial and emotional blackmail? Why not challenge the unhealthy system making you unhappy? Why assume that change is impossible? I urge you to carve your own path, for it is indeed possible.
“IT TAKES SKILL TO BE REAL, TIME TO HEAL EACH OTHER”
Let us return to the concept of wellness and healthy living. The pharmaceutical industry inundates us with advertisements and services, while politicians impose restrictions, all under the guise of health and wellbeing. Enormous profits are made from developing drugs and health services, purportedly for our benefit. However, Western medicine remains largely accessible only to the wealthy. If saving lives were the true goal, medicines worldwide would unite to teach children healthy living in harmony with nature from an early age. Given the high taxes and health insurance contributions, medicine should be free for all. Medicine is not a luxury but a necessity and a right for every human being, designed for the people, not for profit.
The greatest irony lies in the fact that while people are treated with drugs, convinced everything is for their health, these same individuals fall victim to various wars. Isn’t it illogical? Society and its rulers cannot claim to prioritise saving lives through pharmaceuticals and medical services while simultaneously causing stress-induced diseases with an outdated economy and instigating wars that claim innocent lives.
It is disheartening and somewhat tragic that, in the 21st century, humanity has yet to realise that we can all live in prosperity. There is enough for everyone on this planet. We were not born to toil our entire lives for someone else’s gain while enduring suffering. Life is a gift, meant to be lived with awareness of its uniqueness. While work can be fulfilling when it serves a higher purpose, it should not be merely a means of survival due to unfair rules. If the rules are unjust, they must be changed, not imposed on people under inhumane conditions. We must collectively refuse to be victims of unhealthy, divisive politics that breed societal division and wars.
The best medicine for all diseases is prevention. Instead of creating and treating diseases with drugs, we should strive to build a healthy society that fosters healthy individuals, providing an environment full of love, support, and assistance, which is the foundation of a healthy body and mind. This approach would significantly reduce stress-induced illnesses. However, one must ponder how the pharmaceutical industry would maintain its current profit levels under such a paradigm.
“If you seek then you shall find that we all come from the DivineYou dig what I’m sayin? Now if you take heed to the words of wisdomThat are written on the walls of life then universally we will standAnd divided we will fall ’cause love conquers allYou understand what I’m sayin’?
This is a call to all you sleepin’ soulsWake up and take control of your own cycleAnd be on the lookout for those spirits tonight trying to steal your lightYou know what I’m sayin’, look what’s inside yourself forPeace, give thanks, live life and release, you dig me, you got me?“
